The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the center of a gorgeous park directly behind the largest fountain in all of Asia.  Its impressive height can be seen from many bus stops away but is even more beautiful when up close and peeking through pink-blossomed trees. This image was taken by Bethany West who is a 20-year-old student with a passion for traveling that started when she went to Ireland in 2003 with her mom and siblings.  Her experiences traveling abroad and in the U.S. have boosted her self confidence and taught her to believe that there is goodness in the world in the form of a friendly face and a helpful point in the right direction.  She savors every trip, no matter how small, and hopes to inspire others to travel to places unmemorialized in touristy guidebooks.

The city wall of Xi’an, China is over 1,500 years old and is almost as stunning as the Great Wall itself.  When walking on the wall one feels as if they have slipped back to an era where archers, not tourists, surround the ramparts.  Now, one can rent a two-person bicycle and race around the structure that spans almost 8 miles.
